第4回目のセッションでは、英国の「ユースフル・アート」ムーヴメントの第一人者の一人であるアリスター・ハドソンをお迎えします。アリスターはグライズデールアーツでの彼の経験と、働き方に関する哲学的基盤としてマンチェスターでは現在もなお取り入れられているジョン・ラスキンの哲学について語ります。彼が務めていたギャラリーの裏面に書かれていた「Nothing beautiful, unless useful（何ごとも使うことができなければ美しくない）」という建築家の言葉。それはアリスターの話のなかでも大事な点であり、美術館の資源を使って利用者自身がコンテンツを創出する機会を提供することを重視する彼の「ミュージアム 3.0」のコンセプトでもあります。それは未来のアート施設を考える上でとして考慮するに値する重要な点かもしれません。
 
On the fourth occasion, we are bringing in Alistair Hudson, one of the important people behind the “Useful Art” movement in England. Alistair talks about his experience working with Grizedale Arts and the philosophy of John Ruskin that gives foundation to the work ethics that he brings to Manchester now. One of the important things that he shared is about the time when he found a quote from the architect behind the gallery where he works now which said, “Nothing beautiful, unless useful”, which emphasizes the concept of Museum 3.0 that focusing more on giving the opportunity for the user to generate their own content based on the museum resources. This is something that might be important to consider for art institutions in the future.
